running a Netgear MIMO wireless router and new Dell Vostro...

ive been on wireless with this laptop as recently as tuesday morning...

tuesday afternoon i decided i wanted a different SSID for my router. i logged on and changed it and LOOKED at some of the other menu items...

now while i get an Excellent 54.0kps signal connection, it wont get an IP address. i cant get an IP address on my wifes laptop either. she was on monday...

i tried to shut it down and unplug it but im wondering if i should go online with the router and 'reset defaults'. would that really screw me up?

thanks

david

Is the router secured with WPA/WEP, etc.? If so, have you reconfigured your wireless clients on the laptops to use the new SSID?

Did you select the new SSID and put in your WPA or WEP security code on your computers? You could always reset the router to defaults and reconfigure it.

Are you running a third party Firewall? Many times people go thru the correct steps but the firewall blocks it. How do you have it set up?

AVG should not stop it from connecting. Is your wireless connection to your computer working now?
Is it just the printer you are trying to connect and is it attached to your desktop or connected to a printer server?

Are you able to try the printer connected with the usb connection instead, just to be sure the printer is ok?
