Dvdrw Wont Work Proper

Hi there,

I have recently bought a PC from my friend which was in his eye's broken but after taking it apart I found the problem reinstalling windows the problem was sorted.

anyway, the dvd will play dvds and cds but when I go to burn anything it will read but fail as soon as it starts burns, the dvd/rw is an old one duel 8x ide1008 can anyone shed some light on this for me.

I took a look and tried everything but no joy. The writer must be shagged I can still play my games , music and dvds but I can't burn to back anything up. Time for a new burner I need to get a 16x anyway any suggestions.
