I had started out with a new computer where I installed XP Pro. When I installed
the updates and restarted the system something interupted the process and it
restarted again except it went to the screen where you choose from safe
mode, start in last known and start windows normally. I chose start normally
and when I logged in the icons and start bar came up then dissappeared. Now
this has happened with both of my XP PRO and Home operating systems which I tried installing.
I was directed on the microsoft forum to use the task manager and check explorer.exe and when I did nothing came up. So then they had me check REGEDIT.exe for the correct settings of Windows\System32\usernit.exe and shell for explorer.exe. Everything is set as it should be. Was then advised to download HJT and post a copy of the log here.
