Hey y'all,

Browsing this afternoon then all of a sudden tonnes of pop ups appeared and every link I clicked on from Google took me to a www,freshweather.com site with loads of ads popping up everywhere.
Now run all the suggested checks and heres the log. I have to confess to aborting the Bit Defender due to lack of time - it looked tobe taking 2hrs and its WAY too late - wanted to get this log in before I hit the hay...

So here goes...

Thanks in advance for any help!

Nikki

As you can probably see our HijackThis Team is incredibly busy at the moment, but I apologise for the delay you have experienced. If you are still having problems please post a brand new HijackThis log as a reply to this topic. Before posting the log, please make sure you follow all the steps found in this topic:
Preparation Guide For Use Before Posting A HijackThis Log

Hi Charles - thanks alot for getting to me - no worries about the delay... glad to have your help.
Yes I'm still having big problems. Have run through the prep guide thoroughly now and have the HijackThis Log below.
Just to note - BitDefender found Trojan.Vundo and couldn't fix. I think it also removed Javacore.exe.
At the end of the scan it stated I was still infected. Have the log if you wish.

Make a list of all the programs installed on your computer:
Open HijackThis
Click the Config... button, then go to the Misc Tools section.
Press Open Uninstall Manager. You'll see a list of programs.
Select Save List... - save it to your Desktop.
The file "uninstall_list.txt" will be created.
Copy and paste the contents of this file to your next reply.

Download Combofix to your Desktop.
Double click combofix.exe
Follow the prompts that are displayed.
Don't click on the window while the fix is running, because that will cause your system to hang.
When finished, it should produce a log, combofix.txt.

Post that in your next reply with a fresh HijackThis log and the uninstall list.
Thanks
Charles

I do not recommend that you have more than one antivirus product installed and running on your computer at a time.
The reason for this is that if both products have their automatic (Real-Time) protection switched on, then those products which do not encrypt the virus strings within them can cause other antivirus products to create "false alarms". It can also lead to a clash as both products fight for access to files which are opened again this is the resident/automatic protection.
In general terms, the two programs may conflict and cause false alarms - when the antivirus software tells you that your PC has a virus when it actually doesn't. Also it can cause system performance problems; your system may lock up due to both software products attempting to access the same file at the same time.
Therefore please go to Add/Remove in the Control Panel and remove either AVG or Symantec.

Before we continue, please visit the page below, scroll down to the part which says "How to install and use the Windows XP Recovery Console," and follow those instructions:

How to download and use ComboFix

Then please run another scan with it and post back the new log.
Thanks,
Charles

I'm a real numbnuts and real sorry I haven't get to the bottom of this with you Rookie147. One thing after another... the problem I had seemed to have cleared up - but I went and dropped a glass of wine from a great height onto said laptop and its near on b*ggered. Hey Ho.
Thanks for your time and patience... cross fingers no hijacking or wine slinging will occur in the future...
(somehow I think it will!)

Respect - speak soon,

Kellys Angel...
