Hello

Yesterday I was searching using the toolbar (google.com) which comes with Firefox. I typed something and in the browser status bar was something like "feedburner.com" being connected. I couldn't memorize the whole address as it flashed so quickly in the bottom bar. I tried to reproduce that by typing something into the bar, and the whole thing happened again when I typed "ads" in the toolbar, but now I cannot get it to happen again. What is that and does it happen to anyone else? I must know.

Hello justnothing,

According to my research, feedburner is associated with providing you RSS feeds. While originally a separate entity, google bought them last year. That likely explains the connection between your google toolbar and seeing feedburner.com You can read more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FeedBurner

If a site uses feedburner for their RSS feeds they may also add some javascript to their site that loads off of feedburner.com. The site you went to probably does this.

I doubt google's result page uses javascript...

http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/feedburner.com They say it spreads trojans.

I can assure you, you will not receive trojans from feedburner.

As for the javascript, I did not realize you were referring to the google serps. I agree, it should not be connecting to feedburner in the serps unless they were testing a new listing on them.

All I can tell you is feedburner is a legit site owned by google.
