Hi all,
Please help.
I have been infected.

Some of my symptoms are the following:

On startup I get the error message "During a scan of files at system startup, potential erros in the system registry were found. p-07-0100 irql: 1f SYSVER 0xff00024 NT_Kernel error 1256 KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED"

I also get a pop-up on my taskbar saying "A Critical Error can occur"

"Important - Potential Errors found in the system"

I also have two new shortcuts for "Help and Support Center" and "Windows Update"

I've done the typical ad-aware and what not but to no avail.

I also do not have the Windows XP cd that came with my computer.

Here is my HijackThis log, I renamed the HijackThis.exe to Fred.exe to prevent the virus from falsifying info:

Hi flight101uk

1. Download combofix from any of these links and save it to Desktop:
Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

**Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you (C:\ComboFix.txt). Post that log in your next reply

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.
If it does, open Task Manager then Processes tab (press ctrl, alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.
If that happened we want to know, and also what process you had to end.

If you have problems with Combofix usage, see here
