Still works with 98, good!
PRompts to uninstall the old version first.
Looks about the same. Considerably faster

Thanks for the link!
SAS is my preferred tool

Thanks so much quietman.

I was once told you can only have one firewall and one anti virus program installed. Can you have more than one spyware program installed? I'm using Adware 7 and I've now downloaded SUPERAntiSpyware. Do you think one will effect the other?

If so which one would you use.

Thanks again for sharing and for all you guys (gals) do.

Joe

Yes you can. I use Spybot & SAS

Personally, I quit using Ad Aware over a year ago.
SAS is a vastly better program IMO

On my machine the Quick Scan takes almost exactly half the time compared to the previous version.

Incidentally, it didn't prompt me to uninstall the old version. The popup appeared in the system tray this morning, gave me a link to click on - and simply sorted the whole thing out, painlessly, in less than a minute. Really impressive, from beginning to end.

Using more than one anti-spyware program with real-time protection increases your protection coverage without causing the same kind of conflicts or affecting the stability of your system that can occur when using more than one anti-virus. Even if your anti-spyware programs are not running in real-time, the overlap of protection from using different signature databases will aid in detection and removal of more threats when scanning your system for malware.

No single product is 100% foolproof and can detect and remove all threats at any given time. The security community is in a constant state of change as new infections appear. Each vendor has its own definition of what constitutes malware and scanning your computer using different criteria will yield different results. The fact that each program has its own definition files means that some malware may be picked up by one that could be missed by another. Thus, a multi-layered defense using several anti-spyware products (including an effective firewall) to supplement your anti-virus combined with common sense and safe surfing habits provides the most complete protection.
