firstly i took the steps to help free up pc from everyday clutters. ive run multiple scans of AVG, Ad Aware 2007, Spybot S&D, even a2squared software...i also have Vundo fix, Combofix, HJT, ATF Cleaner ...but have not run them....through multiple searches i have been lead to this great forum and now regret that i must request help. ill start with a HJT log but ill have to take a minute to run other scans due to time

basic finds from listed software

spybot = adrevolver, virtumonde, vitumonde.generic

ad aware = never complete...makes 85% stalls/stops

AVG = dropper.agent.GIT (Trojan Horse)

Hi,

* Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove,you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts,click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer,please do so immediatly.

Ok, let's deal with the rest now..

* Go to start > control panel > Display properties > Desktop > Customize Desktop... > Web tab
Select "C:\Program Files\Windows NT\dirolihd.html" you find in there and press the delete button on the right.
Hit ok below > apply in previous window.

Then,

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = http://today.smileycentral.com/smileytoday...artner=ZNxpt236
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {0ADB1767-AF18-4666-8010-929189EC52CA} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ssttt.dll (file missing)

O18 - Filter hijack: text/html - {07851C6A-1C43-41d9-8319-BC89154A8C00} - C:\Program Files\RcvSystem\httpdchk.dll

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

Then, * Please visit this webpage for instructions for downloading and running ComboFix:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

This includes installing the Windows XP Recovery Console in case you have not installed it yet.

Post the log from ComboFix when you've accomplished that, along with a new HijackThis log.

Hi,

I see you have Spyware Terminator installed. I do not really recommend this one since it's a crawler product.

Your version of Java is outdated and needs to be updated to take advantage of fixes that have eliminated security vulnerabilities.
Updating Java:
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 5.
  • Scroll down to where it says "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 5".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • For Platform, select "Windows"
  • For language, select your language
  • Read the License agreement and then Check the box that says: "I agree to the Java SE Runtime Environment 6 License Agreement".
  • Click Continue
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
    - Examples of older versions in Add or Remove Programs:
    • Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2
    • J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0
    • J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u5-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.
Then,

* Open notepad - don't use any other texteditor than notepad or the script will fail.
Copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into notepad:

File::
C:\WINDOWS\BM07f8ea3f.xml
C:\WINDOWS\pskt.ini
Renv::
C:\Program Files\a-squared Anti-Malware\a2guard .exe
Registry::
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\security center]
"AntiVirusDisableNotify"=dword:00000000
"UpdatesDisableNotify"=dword:00000000

Save this as txtfile CFScript

Then drag the CFScript into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

Posted Image

This will start ComboFix again. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a new HijackThislog.

Hi,

Since you uninstalled Spyware Terminator, we need to delete some leftovers from the registry.
To do this, go to start > run and copy and paste next commands in the field:

sc delete sp_clamsrv Hit enter

sc delete sp_rssrv Hit enter

sc delete sp_rsdrv2 Hit enter

For each one, a small dosbox will open and immediately close again, this is how it is supposed to go.

Navigate to and delete the following folder:

C:\Program Files\Spyware Terminator

The fact that Combofix actually was updated a couple of times explains why it can't deal with a certain entry.
No need to redownload Combofix anymore since we actually don't need it anymore either. We'll deal with the rest manually.

You were dealing with a file infector previously where all programs that were starting up with Windows became infected. The infection renames the legitimate exe file and replaces with an infected one.

From your log I can see that the infected ones are gone, but there's still a renamed exe present (which should be the legitimate one). This is the file: C:\Program Files\a-squared Anti-Malware\a2guard .exe

As you see, it has a space in its filename. Before we rename that file back to a2guard.exe (without the space), I want to make sure first that this file is clean before we rename it back.

To find out, Go to next site:
http://www.virustotal.com/en/indexf.html
On top you'll find 'Browse'
Click the browse button and browse to next file:

C:\Program Files\a-squared Anti-Malware\a2guard .exe

Click open.
Then click the 'Send' button next to it.
This will scan the file. Please be patient.
Once scanned, copy and paste the results in your next reply.

Also do the same for this file and let it scan:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\L36FE.tmp

Post the results from that file in your next reply as well.

Hi,

From what I see, it's a file a2guard_.exe with an underscore. Wasn't there a a2guard. exe without an underscore, but with a space before exe ?
In anyway, delete the a2guard_.exe and C:\WINDOWS\system32\L36FE.tmp file.
Then reinstall a-squared Anti-Malware again.

* Go to start > run and copy and paste next command in the field:

ComboFix /u

Make sure there's a space between Combofix and /
Then hit enter.

This will uninstall Combofix, delete its related folders and files, reset your clock settings, hide file extensions, hide the system/hidden files and resets System Restore again.

Let me know in your next reply how things are running now.
