How To Erase Traces Of Internet Usage

How can I erase the compete traces including from registry, log files, of xp and quick heal software including details of internet usage and other things.

They both go after index dat files and other hidden files by overwriting them one or more times.
btw the website RKnRusty mentions is a good detailed explaintion of those hidden files
