I have been working on this off and on for over a week and have been all over the forums here, no no avail. It is difficult to even know where to begin...

Before all of the major problems started, my computer (Windows Vista) would suddenly go black for a second like the screensaver was trying to come on, but then the desktop would go back to total normal, as if nothing happened. I don't know why I didn't really thing much of it before and I am kicking myself for it now.

Present symptoms - For no reason, Windows Explorer will stop working and then it "restarts," all by itself. This happens most often when I try to move desktop icons, delete 'dead-end' icons by right clicking, etc...Sometimes I will get about 20 runtime error 216's . My Office (2007) programs did not want to boot up either, but now they will boot, but are not stable at all. If I toggle my external switch, allowing my computer to connect to the Internet via my wireless router, the entire computer bogs down and it takes FOREVER for it to do anything. Half the time, I have to sit there and wait just to be able to move the arrow around my desktop while connected to the Internet. For this reason, I was unable to run any online scans prior to this post; however, I have run many of the other scans you guys always recommend (I have been a religious user of a couple of them since 2005, the last time you guys helped me; which is why I don't even know how I got infected, if that is what is going on) and they were all updated prior to my running them (literally took all day to update!). I am probably forgetting other symptoms, but I suppose they don't all matter when you guys know what you are reading in the hjt logs.

Scans done - Windows Defender, didn't find anything. Spybot S&D, didn't find anything. SUPERAntiSpyware, didn't find anything. Ad-Aware SE, didn't find anything. Trend Micro AntiVirus, didn't find anything. SpySweeper, didn't find anything. MalwareBytes, didn't find anything. Stinger, didn't find anything. A couple of times I tried to run Combofix, it kept telling me I needed Administrator rights, even when I told it to run as an Administrator and I am the only account on my computer. It finally ran and I have the log for that if you want to see that as well. My Spysweeper "downloaded" a "new version" for the short amount of time I allowed my computer to connect to the Internet earlier, but the computer won't let it install. When I ran HJT, it told me O1 Hosts File Redirection and that they system denied access to Hosts file, but it did what it was supposed to do, I guess, because it gave me the log and the Fix screen.
I apologize if I gave you too much information - I only wanted to follow your rules in the "Before You Post a Log" section...yeah, I actually read it, again! I thank you in advance for any help you guys can give me!

Trish

I apologize for the very long delay. We have a huge backlog of HijackThis Logs to handle and it has been taking us greater time than normal to get caught up. If you are still having a problem, and want us to analyze your information, please post a brand new hijackthis log. If we do not hear back from you within a couple of days we will need to close your topic.

When posting your logs please post them directly into the reply. Do not attach them.

Also make sure you have already followed the steps outlined below:

Preparation Guide For Use Before Posting A Hijackthis Log

Thank you for your patience.
