Hi,
I am running XP Pro, SP2, I.E. 6, and have AVG free AntiVirus, Spybot S&D Free, and AdAware Free.

I am getting popups warning of security threats and / or viruses, and browser windows opening to various ad sites.
( www.admedia365.com www.malwarealarm.com for example )
None of the A/V or anti-spyware etc. seem able to get rid of the insidious little beggar that causes it. I have booted into
safe mode and run full system scans with all 3 products, but the problem remains.

Please can you help? - Thanks.

Hi scrabbular and welcome to Bleeping Computer.

The first thing to try is this:
How to remove MalwareAlarm

Read and follow all the instructions and then let us know how things are.

Hi Starbuck,
Thanks for responding. Sorry it took me a while to get back, but I travel a bit
during the week sometimes.

Anyway...

I followed those instructions. There was no Malwarealarm entry in Add/Remove programs, nor were the file
or folder present on my system. Plus the panda site scan finished with a less than graceful program error.

BUT !!!!

Whatever the problem on my computer was seems to have gone. (fingers crossed)

Many many thanks for your help.
