I've been trying to remove a troubleshoot a blue screen on a Dell "Open Box" laptop. When I run CHKDSK, this loads.
I have tried Smitfraud Fix, and I still have this. This "program" possibly migrated over when I transferred my data. I really have NO CLUE!

Any ideas?

This system is Vista Home Premium.

Does this occur at startup - or only when you try to launch chkdsk?

Also, how do you try and launch chkdsk?
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

No. Only when I go to Start/Start search, and type "chkdsk /f".
At this point, it shows up under Program, and under Files-"run this.
It is when I click, "run this" under the file heading that it loads.

It does not occur on startup

Smitfraud is a program for removing some nasty bad guys. It looks as though you have a latent version of it that is somehow tied into your chkdsk.

I would recommend first trying to remove the Smitfraud program through Add/Remove Programs. If you don't see it or that does not work, I would then suggest you download HijackThis from TrendMicro http://us.trendmicro.com/us/home/ (You should probably do this even if you can remove it).

Install it, run a scan and create a log and post the log in this forum: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/22/virus-trojan-spyware-and-malware-removal-logs/

That is the Malware forum. They should be able to help you with the removal of that. They will also clean up your startup as it sounds like a lot of unnecessary stuff is running.

Good luck.
