Hi ppl,

there is this new internet service around town, it's a mobile wireless internet, they give you a wirless modem and you can cave internet wherever you go in the coverage area and i guess most of you are familiar with such service.

Anyways i sent a question to the ISP to ask if the connection is shared among users in the same base station or dedicated and they answered that the connection is broadband internet and each base station is set to serve a number of users.

i don't get what do they mean by broadband internet, and what do i understand?its shared?

or maybe technically in those kind of services the connection is obligatory shared.

anyone can clarify me this issue.

If it's similar to what I know of here in the US, it's a connection that uses the cellphone towers to connect to the internet. Since it's a new service, it's likely that the available connection is shared by the users that are currently logged on through that particular access point. What this means is that, if there's 3 mBps of available download speed, that'll be shared among the users. So the more users are online, the slower the connection will be.

Broadband (IMO) is a generic term that can mean almost anything above dialup speeds. Here's a link that explains more about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broadband
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
