I notice that in the HJT log section on this forum
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/22/virus-trojan-spyware-and-malware-removal-logs/
there does not appear to be a section to where 'abandoned' , completed etc logs can be transfered to consolidate the number of active logs in the section;
such removal of logs to that section to leave only actvie logs might help the Team to appraise the overall work load a bit clearer?Posted Image

We thank you for your thoughtful suggestion. However this is not necessary to create yet another location that would have to be monitored, for wayward logs. There is a 'queue' that is only visible to the HJT Team and Bleeping Computer Staff. It is sorted by post date, so that the oldest log is always on top. The HJT Team accesses this queue to work new logs. They do not need to 'rummage' through the forum to look for a log. They also subscribe to posts so that when a member replies to a post they are notified. So they really aren't having to deal with what looks like chaos.

This is slightly unrelated but do the HJT team get to look through and take their pick so they aren't biting off more than they can chew? Or is it a matter of "first in first served"?

Due to the mere fact that there are levels of experience within the Malware team. Yes the logs are sorted by post date. The malware team selects logs according to their level of expertise, utilizing the first come first serve as a secondary criteria. Also keeping in mind that other team members are available to contact for assistance should they run into difficulty. Keeping in mind we don't call it the HJT/Malware Team for nothing. :thumbsup:

So in a nutshell, first come first served. Within your skill level and challenging yourself at the same time. With the whole team as support if you need it.

my appologies for not stating in my original post that the suggestion

to be a section to where 'abandoned' , completed etc logs can be transfered

would of course be a LOCKED section Posted Image

it was 'an idea' that I felt was worth mentioning

(however, while one is on the subject OF HJT logs, I for one would like to say a BIG THANKS TO the HJT Team for ALL the selfless unpaid work you do do to 'read' the logs, work out what IS going on , whether and how it IS cleanable, and the tools and method of cleaning ; seeing you all 'at work' you make it seem easy but I know it is far FROM easy )
