I have validated my Win XP, updated the Windows downloader, tried numerous different things I've read here & still EVERY time I click on the yellow shield to download updates it goes through the motions until it gets to the 'Installing Updates' part & then all fail.
No error codes..
When I Turn off the PC (to install updates) it starts & states installing updates, 1 of 88 & then just shuts off.

I guess I don't understand the bit about <<When I Turn off the PC (to install updates)>>.

I guess I'm not familiar with that technique...

Why would you turn off the system?

Have you tried going to the WinUpdate site...and installing there?

Hello Mike42,

I see you have a HJT log posted in the Misplaced HijackThis Logs forum.

You shouldn't make any changes to your system, while your HJT log is posted, as that could change the results of the posted log, making it difficult to properly clean your system.
At this point, the HJT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, to make changes to your system.

I'm closing this topic until you are cleared by the HJT Team.
If, after your log has been cleaned, you still need help, please PM a Moderator and we will re-open this topic.
Chaos reigns within.
Reflect, repent, and reboot.
Order shall return.
