HI guys, I wonder if you can help me with an annoying problem I have on my puter. I am having trouble opening applications and sometimes it takes so long that I have to click on IE which will then start the selected app. running. Quite often, when I finish with one app. and try another the puter will freeze and I have to use the task manager to clear things out. I have checked for malware and viruses and found that I had a network virus (Sobig  which I cleaned with F-secure online, but I still have this app. opening problem I also had to reinstall Windows xp pro recently bcos I had a problem with IE and OE, and the OE icon was disappearing from the quick launch bar and being replaced by another icon. Any help would be appreciated. Regards, John.

I'd suggest that you download this free program and use it to clean your temporary files: http://www.ccleaner.com/download
Please use the default settings to clear the temporary files. The more advanced features are dangerous to use, so please avoid them.

Next, I'd suggest that you use a couple of these free online scans to see if there are any traces of infection still on your system. Be advised that some of these scanners will pickup things in "quarantine" from other anti-virus programs - so review the results carefully:

http://safety.live.com (requires IE) If using Vista, click on the error message to use the beta scanner.

If you find that you're still infected, I'd suggest posting here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/103/am-i-infected-what-do-i-do/
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
