Hello guys. Had this problem for the last few days. In Safe Mode, spyware doctor detects and deletes the problem. However after a few days once again I'm stuck with seeing these pop-ups. Got no clue what to do and I really don't want to reformat. Other than spyware doctor is there anything that would help?

Hello YankFan45

What OS (Win XP, XP SP1, XP SP2/2000, etc) are you using? What type of anti-virus are you using and is finding any infected files?

Did Spyware Doctor provide a specific file name associated with this malware threat and if so, where is it located (full file path) at on your system? If the scan saved a log file, it should show exactly what and where the malware was found so post that instead.

Hey Quietman7,

I don't know much about computers but I think I got Xp. Sp2.

Unfortunately I have no saved log files from the scan however it was located somewhere in the registry. Also weird is that I got 3 new icons on my desktop that are associated with the virus. Privacy Protector, Spyware and Malware Protection, and Error Cleaner.

I used McAfee but it found nothing, used Hi-Jack this and seen the action it tried to change my homepage, was advised to scan using Kaperasky (sp) and while it found nothing it gave me a list of files that were locked and skipped. Both Hi-jackthis, and Kaperasky logs can be found in this thread:

Thanks

After posting a log you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a HJT Team member, nor should you continue to ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show it the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the member assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer.

From this point on the HJT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean.

If after 5 days you still have received no response, then post a link to your HJT log in the thread titled "Haven't Had A Reply In Five Days?".

To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic until you are cleared by the HJT Team. If you still need assistance after your log has been reviewed and you have been cleared, please PM me or another moderator and we will re-open this topic.

Thanks for your cooperation and good luck with your log.
