Downloaded Combofix today (Feb 17, 2008) Ran it on a Windows XP Home OEM SP2 machine. After rebooting, c:\windows\system32 folder was gone (not just the files, but the folder itself). Booted from CD, restored folder from qoobox and Windows is back up.

Hello ComputerGuy7 and welcome to BC :flowers:

Sorry about the delay in response. We are all volunteers here and sometimes things slip past us.

Combofix is a powerful tool intended by its creator to be "used with the direction of an expert," NOT for private use. You should NOT use Combofix unless a Malware Removal Expert has told you to. Improper use of this tool can seriously damage your operating system and may even prevent it from starting again. Please read Combofix's Disclaimer.

What issues are you having with your computer that you decided to run this program? What security programs do you have installed?

Orange Blossom
