I don't know if this is the right place to post this problem, but here goes. Six months ago I bought a Compaq Presario V6000 laptop computer. I haven't dropped it or treated it with any type of disrestect, but recently the screen has decided to stop working. Everything elson on my computer still runs, but the screen goes completely black, and the only way I can get it back on is by jiggling it. Does anyone have an idea why this might be occuring? Also, do you know how/if I could fix it?

Thanks for your help.

If its under warranty send it in for repairs. If its not check the little switch on the case that tells the computer the lid is closed if this is loose or faulty the screen will turn off because the computer thinks the lid is closed.

Thanks! Unfortunately, I can't check if it's still under warrenty. The paperwork is in America, and I'm in Ireland.

I don't see any switch to indicate whether the lid is opened or closed. When the screen goes black, it's not true black. I can still see what's on it if I hold a light up to the screen (computing by flashlight). Everything else is still on: the button lights, the light indicating connection to the internet, the light at the power cord. I can even play my music when this happens. I do appreciate your help...I'm just ranting, though this isn't the place to do it.

Thanks, again.

Sounds like the backlight went on the screen. There should be 2 or 3 more letters/numbers on the unit
