Hi Can someone please help with my problem described below. It would be very much appeciated.
My Computer runs winxp with latest servive packs.
IE 7 is hanging since yesterday and over the last few days the screen hangs
my home page has changed from www.google.ie to go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=69157
I have shut down and opened in safe mode altered my home page to www.google.ie

I have run all these in safe mode
I have run cwshredder several times
I have run spybot several times
I have run a ccleaner several times
I have run spybot search and destroy
I have run AVG spyware
I have run mcaffee stinger
I have now run hijackthis and am posting the log here

I didn't want to restart my laptop in normal mode until an expert had a look at the log file to say whether there was still some rubbish on my system that should be got rid off.

Thanks for the help in advance...at the bottom of the hijackthis log I have added the decard log files.....maybe more help..........

Hi, sorry for the delay.

First, you have this same log posted at another forum. This is frowned on because it takes up the time of more than one person to help you, when that time could be used to help someone else, and getting instructions from more than one helper can be confusing for both you and any others helping you.

Now that you have an answer here, please post to any other topics you have open in any other forum besides BC and request that your topic be closed.

Second, it doesn't appear to be a malware issue--most likely this is the problem:

FW: ZoneAlarm Firewall v7.0.337.000 (Check Point, LTD.)
FW: Norton 360 v2007 (SYMANTEC Corporation)
AV: Norton 360 v2007 (SYMANTEC Corperation)

That means you have ZoneAlarm's firewall installed on top of Norton 360's firewall. Never install more than one firewall at a time, especially Norton + ZoneAlarm, or you will get these types problems that vaguely resemble malware symptoms.

Therefore, please go to the following page and follow the instructions for uninstalling ZoneAlarm completely: http://forums.zonealarm.com/zonelabs/board...;message.id=103

Reboot and test and let me know if that solves the problem. I don't see signs of serious malware in your logs.

The thing about people

is they change

when they walk away.--Mipso
