I use Mozilla Firefox 95%of the time for browsing on my PC but also have IE7 for Windows updates etc. Due to a problem I had with the new update of Comodo Firewall my account became unstable. My daughter shares this machine with me and after checking I found her account to be ok and opened a new account for myself and transferred all my files, bookmarks etc over to the new account. After I was satisfied everything was working fine I deleted the old account.
I use Comodo Firewall Pro, Avira Antivirus and Spyware Blaster as real time protection and use SuperAntiSpyware and AVGAntiSpyware as on demand scanners. I went through them all individually, updating them and checking they were set up correct in my new account. When I updated SuperAntiSpyware I also got a message telling me that it now could guard against my home page being hijacked and thinking this was a good idea I okayed it. In the box that came up I chose "about blank" as that has been what I use and also set "Google" as my first choice search agent. The program set this as my home page and as I very rarely use IE7 I thought no more about it.
I opened IE7 this morning and the page is full of warnings on google about getting rid of some malware called about blank I have scanned my machine and everything is clean, it is working perfectly and this is why I posted this here rather than the malware section. I think this has more to do with changing my home page and wondered if anyone could shed light on the matter?.
