i use trend micro anti virus but it cant quarantine or clean this file.
it says i have a troj agent.aeua located in C:\WINDOWS\system32\bootvi.dll
and i cant manually delete it any help would be welcomed thanks.

Yes bootvi.dll is a virus. Use RegRUN to completelly get rid of this file. or another option is to manually delete it. use cmd and type edit, then open the file, from cmd (command prompt), edit the file and take the virus out. thats alot harder but i did that on another program that was a virus. then i deleted. but use RegRun download it at www.regrun.com

its a completely free download. just follow on-screen directions and it should be gone in a flash. :thumbsup:

click the download tab

save it to your desktop

and execute it from where u downloaded it to

cant seem to open it .it keeps shutting down during the installation.

This file can be difficult to remove because it is protected by a driver which loads much earlier than actions taken to delete it. Further, the infection is often accompanied by other .dll files which need to be identified and removed. Successful removal also requires identification of the CLSID (unique id number) associated with the BHO and use of specialized fix tools.

In step #9 there are instructions for downloading HijackThis and creating a log. (This is a self-extracting version which will automatically install the current version of HJT in the proper location.)
When you have done that, post your log in this forum HijackThis Logs and Malware Removal, NOT here,
