Does anyone know if file recovery off a USB Flash drive can be done? The USB port on the computer does not recognize the insertion, plus it looks like she chewed into the circuit board itself. She even chewed the light off the flash drive itself. Sounds funny, but my wife is very upset. Any help would be appreciated. I looked at data recovery software, but how would that work, especially when the USB flash drive is not recognized?

Was your homework on it? (just kidding!)

If the flash drive isn't recognized in your system, there's not much that you can do yourself. I'd check around at local computer shops for a reputable recovery firm (and hope that dog saliva doesn't affect memory!)!

I've got 7 dogs - and they'll chew anything that I leave within reach. Even if it's not within reach, they'll convince one of the 8 cats to knock it down so they can chew on it. Not long ago I had a blue Lhasa Apso (normally white), when she chewed up a blue Magic Marker. She also stained the bed that she was chewing it on!

I married a veterinarian - so I don't have to worry about the vet bills! And $148 is actually pretty cheap for removing a sock from their innards!

I'd suggest restricting the puppy to certain puppy-proofed areas of the house unless he/she is under direct supervision. They'll tear up stuff as long as it's available. It takes a lot of training to teach them what's acceptable and what's not.

Good luck!
