At first, Internet Explorer would only not open sometimes, or freeze when I would click on some links. ow, it won't open at all. Every time I go to open it, McAfee notifies me that it has located and deleted/moved a Trojan. I am also having problems with Yahoo! Messenger. The smileys and other flash features will not work. I was going to just uninstall it and download Trillian, but when I tried to this message came up: "Could not open INSTALL.LOG file." I was also trying to uninstall Spy Sweeper and this message came up: "File 'C:\ProgramFiles\Webroot\SpySweeper\unins000.dat' does not exist. Cannot uninstall." Please help me if you can! This is driving me insane.. Thanks in advance! :flowers:

hi, welcome to the forum.

Firstly, you need to Move HijackThis to a permanent folder for it to work properly.

To do this:

Go to My Computer (Windows key + E ), double click on C:
Click File > New > Folder

Name it HijackThis and unzip/move or download the program again to this folder.

Rerun HJT,and put a tick beside these :-

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TYPE=3&t...lion&pf=desktop
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TYPE=3&t...lion&pf=desktop
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...//www.yahoo.com
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TYPE=3&t...lion&pf=desktop
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TYPE=3&t...lion&pf=desktop

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TYPE=3&t...lion&pf=desktop
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {17F3EC70-8950-082B-6514-E0DC3DD95A6F} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\cxofyuim.dll

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sF4W3qO] htugr.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [dov6RkiEl] hidsam.exe
O4 - Startup: MX240a.lnk = ?

now close all windows and browsers and click [blue]FIX CHECKED[/blue]

Then boot up in SAFE MODE

then navigate to and delete these files :-

C:\WINDOWS\system32\ixmggpgh.dll << This file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\cxofyuim.dll << This file

then reboot and post a fresh Hijackthis log.

you still have HJT in a TEMP folder, this means that HJT cannot make backups of the files that it removes. so if you remove a file by accident, you won't be able to restore it

that looks better now.

Rerun HJT,and put a tick beside these :-

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {17F3EC70-8950-082B-6514-E0DC3DD95A6F} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {D6438874-B5F5-2B69-90A9-5D9A14996780} - (no file)
O23 - Service: hheqsqxcqvjb (nfwjpwmp6) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\qwzomfyc6.exe (file missing)

now close all windows and browsers and click [blue]FIX CHECKED[/blue]

are you still having the same problems ?

if so, try running SCANDISK and see if that helps.

Okay, so, I've done all that and I'm not having any problems with Internet Explorer any more. Yahoo! still won't show any of the flash features and I can't uninstall Yahoo! or Spy Sweeper.
And in that moment, I swear we were infinite.
