This is my first and hopefully last post. I believe that my computer has some sort of Virus/Malware that I cannot locate and/or remove. I have run through the steps recommended on this site prior to posting a HJT log. The only program that came up with something was the MicroTren House Calls online check. Spybot at one time came up with a command service virus that it could not remove, however it does not come up with that anymore. I have AVG, McAfee OAS running constantly and am only using FireFox for web surfing at this time since it seemed that problems occur when I use IE. I have posted my HJT log below for review. Hopefully someone can locate any problems I have and recommend a fix. My computer is booting up very slowly and I no longer have access to my wireless network icon in my toolbars and I cannot access my wireless configuration utility from the control panel. I get the following error: "Internal configuration is inconsistent, please restart the machine to resolve the problem", however this does not solve the problem.

Hopefully someone can help soon!

Regards,
cycleguy37

Hi Richie,
Thanks for getting back to me on this. I am certain you are very busy but I really appreciate your continued support. Since my original post, I have been researching my problem on line and I believe that I have corrected what problems I have found. I used the VundoFix tool to remove the Vundo virus I had which in turn corrected my red X on local drive issue. However, my computer is still running very slowly so I would appreciate a once-over with your experienced eyes on my fresh HFT log file below. I formatted it with word wrap per your instructions.

thanks again. I look forward to your reply ( and hopefully I am not infected at all)

Hello
Afraid you still have problems, lets make a start.

You have AVG7 and McAfee\VirusScan Enterprise installed.
Its not a good idea to have more than one antivirus program installed on your computer.
Each program may interpret the actions of the other as viral, therefore giving you false virus warnings about virus-related activities.
It could also lead to system slowdowns and other problems within the operating system, due to the two conflicting with each other.
You should uninstall one of them now, then restart your pc.

Download DelDomains.zip and extract/unzip it to your desktop:
Now right click on Deldomains.inf then click on 'Install'.
After right clicking on Deldomains.inf 'Install' it will have appeared nothing happened, this is normal.

Your version of Sun Java is out of date.
Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system.
Please follow these steps to remove older versions of Sun Java, and then update.
1. Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE)
2. Scroll down to where it says 'Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 update 4'.
3. Click the "Download" button to the right.
4. Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
5. The page will refresh.
6. Click on the link to download 'Windows Offline Installation jre-6u4-windows-i586-p.exe' [15.12 MB] and save to your desktop.
7. Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
8. Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
9. Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
10. Click the Change/Remove button.
11. Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java version.
12. Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
13. Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u4-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.

Please follow the instructions in the link below for the downloading and running of ComboFix:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix
This also includes installing the Windows XP Recovery Console in case you have not got it installed.
Post the log from ComboFix when you've finished, along with a new HijackThis log please.

The current formatting of your log makes it difficult to read/evaluate.
Open 'Notepad',click on 'Format' at the top, then uncheck 'Word Wrap' if it's checked.

Download ATF Cleaner by Atribune:
http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=1
Do not run it just yet.

Download\install 'SuperAntiSpyware Home Edition Free Version' from here:
http://www.superantispyware.com/downloadfi...ANTISPYWAREFREE

Launch SuperAntiSpyware and click on 'Check for updates'.
Once the updates have been installed, exit SuperAntiSpyware.
Do not run it just yet.

Have Hijack This fix the following by placing a check in the appropriate boxes and selecting 'Fix checked'.
Make sure all browser and all Windows Explorer windows are closed before fixing:
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {005c8b9e-328c-40a1-aff5-0677e9ea9825} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\vwijdcay.dll (file missing)
O16 - DPF: {03F998B2-0E00-11D3-A498-00104B6EB52E} (MetaStreamCtl Class) - https://components.viewpoint.com/MTSInstall.../i85/i85_vr.asp

Exit Hijackthis.

Now double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click 'Select All' found at the bottom of the list.
Click the 'Empty Selected' button.
If you use Firefox browser, do this also:
Click Firefox at the top and choose 'Select All' from the list.
Click the 'Empty Selected' button.
NOTE:
If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click 'No' at the prompt.
If you use Opera browser,do this also:
Click Opera at the top and choose 'Select All' from the list.
Click the 'Empty Selected' button.
NOTE:
If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click 'No' at the prompt.
Click 'Exit' on the Main menu to close the program.

Now Start SuperAntiSpyware.
On the main screen click on 'Scan your computer'.
Check: 'Perform Complete Scan'.
Click 'Next' to start the scan.

Superantispyware will now scan your computer, when it's finished it will list all/any infections found.
Make sure everything found has a checkmark next to it,then press 'Next'.
Click on 'Finish' when you've done.

It's possible that the program will ask you to reboot in order to delete some files.

Obtain the SuperAntiSpyware log as follows:
Click on 'Preferences'.
Click on the 'Statistics/Logs' tab.
Under 'Scanner Logs' double click on 'SuperAntiSpyware Scan Log'.
It will then open in your default text editor, such as Notepad.
Copy and paste the contents of that report into your next reply.
Also post a new Hijackthis log,let me know how your pc is running now.

Hi Richie,
My apologies for the "Word Wrapped" logs. I zoned out when I copied and pasted. These next logs should meet your requirements. My computer seems to be running much better once it has booted up, but it still seems quite slow to boot. Also, the Red "X" has re-appeared next to my Local Disk in Windows Explorer. It had returned to normal prior to our removal techniques. For some reason, I believe that it returned when I downloaded the ComboFix program but I am not certain.

Thanks again for all of your help. Hopefully these final logs will be much cleaner.

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Ant...ware_d5756.html
http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

* Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
* The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
* The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
* Copy and paste the entire report into your next reply.

Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.

Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri), to your desktop.
Double click on Smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option 1 Search, by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy and paste the content of that report into your next reply.
*IMPORTANT*
Do NOT run any other options until you are asked to do so!
*NOTE*
process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes.
Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

Hi Richie,
I worked through all of the steps from your last email, however I ran into a problem when performing the OTMoveIt step. It downloaded correctly but when I ran the Clean Up I got the following error

I/O Error 1784

I am not sure what I did wrong. Also, should I be concerned that I still have a Red X next to my Local Disk in my Windows Explorer? I can certainly see the increased performance in my computer since working with you and I really appreciate it very much. I am planning on donating some money to you for your troubles, however I am researching the conversion rate ifrom Dollars to Pounds.

Regards,
cycleguy37

Richie,
Well things were going well, now I am having problems trying to complete your tasks. I downloaded the TweakUI and did the Repair Now for the Rebuild Icons and did not have any problems with that. However, I cannot create the fix.reg file per your instructions. It will save correctly with the code included, however it looks like a regular .txt file on my desktop. When I double-click the file, it merely opens the .txt file in notepad but never asks me to merge the information with the registry.

Again, there is a distinct possibility that it is a user error on my part, however I believe that I followed your instructions to a "T".

Regards,
Cycleguy37
