Sorry, for the duplicate post. Had to run a scan with the updated HJT and could not find my original to reply to.

Computer running slow!

Kaspersky found the trojan in topic line. Kaspersky removed (I think).

I went through the preparation steps for posting here. Nothing new found.

Any help in removing any remaining bits of onfection would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much!!

Thank you for your help. Most issues are with really slow computer response (applications loading, web pages loading), just very slow in general.

Kaspersky antivirus identified the infection listed in the subject line. Things have improved since Kaspersky fixed, but there are still intermittent problems.

I just want to be sure this log looks okay to an expert.

Also, I recently got rid of my Norton Internet Security and wonderr if there are any remnants that you see that I could remove.

Thanks again! Here is a new HJT log.

Hello

Your version of Sun Java is out of date.
Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system.
Please follow these steps to remove older versions of Sun Java, and then update.
1. Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE)
2. Scroll down to where it says 'Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 update 4'.
3. Click the "Download" button to the right.
4. Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
5. The page will refresh.
6. Click on the link to download 'Windows Offline Installation jre-6u4-windows-i586-p.exe' [15.12 MB] and save to your desktop.
7. Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
8. Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
9. Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
10. Click the Change/Remove button.
11. Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java version.
12. Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
13. Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u4-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.

Please disable Spybot S&Dís protection,or it will interfere.
You can enable it after you're clean.

Open Spybot and click on 'Mode' and check 'Advanced Mode'.
Click on 'Tools' in bottom left hand corner.
Click on the 'System Startup' icon.
Uncheck 'Teatimer' box and/or uncheck 'Resident'.
Click the 'Allow Change' box.
Then, check next to the computer clock to see if the icon for Spybot is still there.
If it is, right click it and choose 'exit Spybot-S&D Resident'.
Restart the computer.
If you find you're experiencing problems disabling Spybot's Tea-Timer,follow the info in the link below:
http://www.russelltexas.com/malware/teatimer.htm

Please follow the instructions in the link below for the downloading and running of ComboFix:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix
This also includes installing the Windows XP Recovery Console in case you have not got it installed.
Post the log from ComboFix when you've finished, along with a new HijackThis log please.

Thank you for your help, Richie.

Java-The graduate school program that I am currently working on has a web based component that they say is optimized for the version I have installed. At this time, I am going to go ahead and leave it as is.

Here are the ComboFix and new HJT logs

Again, thanks.
Mark

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Ant...ware_d5756.html
http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

* Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
* The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
* The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
* Copy and paste the entire report into your next reply along with a new HijackThis log.

Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.

Let me know how your pc is running now.

Nothing found by MBAM. Its log and another HJT are below. The computer is running noticeably better (faster).

Thank you.

I keep on asking you to do the following, are you having problems with it:

I now need you to do the following if you will:
First enable the viewing of hidden files and folders, reverse the process once you've done below:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/how-to-see-hidden-files-in-windows/

Go here:http://virusscan.jotti.org/
Using the 'Browse' button,browse to:
C:\WINDOWS\sprscore.exe
Then press the 'Submit' button.
Wait while the file is scanned.
Post the results into your next reply.

If Jotti's too busy,try here:
http://www.virustotal.com/en/virustotalf.html
Click on the 'Analysis' tab.
Using the 'Browse' button,browse to:
C:\WINDOWS\sprscore.exe
Then click on 'Send File'.
Post the results into your next reply.

Then do exactly the same with the following file:
C:\WINDOWS\rundys32.exe
Post all the results into your next reply please.

Also post a new Hijackthis log please.

Hello.

Regarding Java....

I am enrolled at a university that has web based tools that I must use that recommends using either JRE 6 update 2 or 3. That is why I had been reluctant to update Java. They just recently added update 3, so I've done that. I will hold off on update 4 until they have optimized their site for it.

Here are the results from VirusTotal.com com for sprscore.exe and rundys32.exe. It looks like they are part of SSPro?

And a new HJT log

Thank you again.

Please double-click OTMoveIt.exe again to run it.
Click on the 'Cleanup' button Posted Image
When you do this a text file named cleanup.txt will be downloaded from the internet.
If you get a warning from your firewall or other security programs regarding OTMoveIt attempting to contact the internet you should allow it to do so.
When the 'Confirm' box appears click 'Yes'.
Restart your pc when prompted.

Deleted those three items with HJT, uninstalled Combofix and did the OTMoveit Cleanup. Computer is definitely responding better.

One more question. Since I no longer use Norton Security, would it be safe (or is there any reason to) delete these entries in HJT?
