Hello all, we have a Compaq v4000 and the little hole you plug the power cord into seems to be broken. Meaning, the computer has been working fine, but the connection to the power cord has been spotty, and we would have to wiggle the cord and mess with it to keep the connection.

Well, the comp has been sitting for a while since we bought a new laptop, and now that the battery is dead we can't get the power cord to connect to power the computer on.

We have tried buying a new cord, and it still doesn't work, so we think it is the internal connection itself. Does anyone know how to fix this, or if we had to take it in to a tech about how much it would cost? Thanks in advance for any help.

I've got a friend at work who does this for about $50 on his own computers. He usually buys the part off of eBay and solders it on himself. Otherwise, I'd suggest getting an estimate from a local shop of the cost of a repair.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
