im useing a core 2 duo E6400, i want to upgrade it im useing an asus p5n 32 sli deulx .r 2.0 i seen on newegg they are selling a Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 Conroe 3.0GHz for $274.99 and a Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz for $276.99. at newegg.com

my question is what would be better for gameing a faster duo core or a quard core. im so lost right now i used to be really big in to this stuff but after i got sick i wasnt able to keep up to date with all the tech stuff
lol last thing i remember was a barton core that was years and years ago. should i wait tell April or may befor i buy one of them becouse i read somewere thats when intel is going to releace a new cpu. as i remember the prices drop on older stuff when new stuff comes out. i want to deside on what toget befor they put me back in the microwave :thumbsup: thank you

It all depends upon the programs that you use and their ability to utilize the dual/quad cores. With a view to the future, more and more stuff will utilize quad cores - so that'll give you the most bang for your buck long term.

Keep in mind that the Duo is obviously cheaper than the Quad, and you can always upgrade to Quad in the future once it's more affordable (provided the motherboard you have supports it).
