Hello....
Recently acquired (2) Dell Optiplex SX260 computers.
Originally they had Windows 2000 on them..according to the tag.
I was able to install win XP home on the one and finally got it to boot up and hook up to the net.
I believe the specs are 1.8 G for the Intel chip..20 gig for the hard drive...374 for the memory.
Tried to run the Dell diagnostics on it with no luck.
Pressing F12 brings up the menu...click on the utility partition and it boots up to windows and brings up the desktop.
Tried to boot from utility CD and it comes up to hit F1 or F2.
I have a 512 stick coming for it...just don't know where to go from here.
Have checked system on F2 and all looks good.

Any ideas or comments would be much appreciated. :flowers:

I'm confused (also).

This CD used to install XP Home...is it a Dell CD? Is it a MS CD?

What kind of install did you do? Repair? Clean? From partition? Upgrade?

If it's not a Dell CD...why would you expect the Dell functions to work?

What is this "utility partition" that you refer to?

OK.....
the win xp was installed via a Dell Supplied boot disc...Repair mode.

As for Utility Partition..it is in the menu on F12.

Will not run diagnostic process via the Utility CD.
