You will need to change the file associations for opening attachments.
This is a simple process to do.

Click on My Computer from your desktop or start menu.
At the top of the page, Tools/Folder Options.

When the Folder Options dialog opens, File Types tab.
Scroll through the list, find the file type you wish to change.
Example: jpeg files. Highlight jpeg, the program used to opening this type
of file will be listed under Details. To change the opening program, click on
Change. Choose the program you want to open all jpeg files, then click apply.

If you want to change several types of files, change them all one by one then click apply.
