Rather than weeding through loads of settings you can just create another connection and see if that works (unless you have specific settings). If the shop screwed up your PC they should have to fix it

Remove the power plug from the modem without turning the modem off...wait 5 seconds...reconnect. This forces the modem to recycle (start all over) in setting up.

Sorry I didn't reply back sooner
I try it,and I got my IP,but the problem still remains...
It's annoying now,cuz now Windows Update,Firefox and my Anti Virus cannot update properly at all, saying no connection is found at all(not true cuz I'm using Firefox on this computer at this very moment)
Also, most of proxy I found can only last 1 day,the next,I have to find another useable proxy
I really hope you have another idea!

Well...I guess I believe in clean installs, especially when I feel that the problems are rather ill-defined.

I'm not going to go into what I think of a shop that "fixes" a system that has problems as the result of said "fixing"...and then refuses to correct such.

You can do a clean install yourself, if you begin to believe in that option. And it won't cost you anything more than 35 minutes to do it, some time on the Internet visiting WinUpdate...and the time it takes to carefully install needed applications.

You haven't provided a wealth of information about this scenario...

If I really had only a connection problem, that would have been solved by merely creating the connection anew...or replacing defective hardware involved in the connection.

I don't think you've even told us what kind of connection it is, wireless or cabled, dialup, etc.

You mentioned a proxy - are you connecting through a proxy? If not, then the proxy can prevent you from connecting to the web. Try unchecking the box for proxy settings in IE (Tools...Internet Options...Connections tab...LAN Settings button) and see if you can connect then.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

First post: 5 Feb 08.

Today is 19 Feb 08 and you have taken the position of refusing to accept what some of us deem as our best suggestions.

What else is there to say? We're only human beings trying to help and you tell us that you prefer not to heed our suggestions.
