I've a new Lenovo Thinkpad wih XP Pro that has to be used in a domain environment.
If any account other that one with administrator privileges logs on, I get an Actray.exe not initialising error.

No error occurs if an administrator logs on.

Here's a link to a startup by the same name from Lenovo: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/actray-15320.html
It appears to be unneeded - so it'll be safe to disable it. But be careful (as it's a piece of connection software) that you don't get rid of it until you know that it's gonna work when you disable it! Better safe than sorry!

Yes, I had seen the link you kind.ly provided. What I would like to understand, though, is why it only locks-up when certain users log in.

Most likely it's because the program tries to do something that requires Administrative privileges (such as modifying the network settings). When a standard user tries to do this - the system will refuse to make the changes. I wonder why it doesn't ask for Administrator credentials when launching the app - that should be a prerequisite IMO
