The problem is in finding the right PCB - the manufacturer's change the PCB's as they need to. So you may find another ST3320820A 320GB IDE drive with a different version of the PCB. And it's not always a visual change - sometimes it's a change that's written into the firmware within the PCB. Most manufacturer's will mark the revision number on the boards - but minor changes may not get added, and may cause the change not to work.
The point of this is - what are you gonna do if this destroys all of your data? Yes, there's not much else to do - but if the data is worthwhile to you, it may pay to have a pro do this. If it's not possible to have a pro do it - then by all means attempt it yourself.
