Holy crapcakes with turd toppings! $44 billion?! More 66% higher than Yahoo's current value? MS must have something else up their sleeve. Else they're just getting desperate.

already mentioned in chat, if MS is buying Yahoo - I will change from Yahoo mail to GMail just for that :flowers: . I do not think this is going to happen though. Although shareholders and capitalisation are also in the game  .

-edit- addendum. I would say they are getting desperate as their own product is useless.

Agreed, yourhighness and Amazing Andrew.
I don't think they have any sort of master plan, just scraping the barrel.

Sorry, I don't go into chat so I didn't realise the topic had been discussed.

I wish someone would buy something off me, paying me more than double it's value!
However, all I have of any value (that I know of) is my laptop and I'm not giving it up haha...

It is a shotgun marriage, but the person holding the shotgun is Google

'Shotgun Wedding' used in this case is as an analogy. Neither side really wants the other. But separately they can't play in the same league as Google. So they are 'forced' to 'marry' to even compete in the same areas Google dominates. Thereby meaning Google holds the shotgun, because of their sheer dominance. And are forcing Yahoo and MS to 'marry'. Does that help explain that American 'euphemism'?

Two advantages for M$FT/Yahoo
1.. It quadruples the number of hits on it's new, combined, search engine instantly. M$St =7%.YHOO =21% total 28%. GOOG still has 66%.
2.. They consolidate their two separate huge server farms. Combining 2 huge farms, M$FT can now reduce the number of machines. A very cost effective move.
