For some reason I cannot view a user account in Documents and Settings.

Like this:
Attached File  Docs_and_Settings1.JPG   41.57KB   10 downloads

I can see it on the logon screen, user accounts, etc. I cannot view it anywhere else, and I cannot view there documents, pictures, etc.

Does anyone know why I cannot view it?

P.S. - I just did a fresh install of Windows XP Home lastnight, but everything else seems to be working fine.

Thanks in ADVANCE!

Some user accounts are hidden, control panel->folder options->view. there should be show hidden files, and hide protected operating system files.
Be careful not to change anything, as the files in this folder are very important.
Regards,

Alan.

You mentioned a fresh install of Windows. When reinstalling Windows, as part of the set up process, you had to create at least one user account-which is shown on the welcome screen.

After the install completed, did you click on the user account on the welcome screen to get to that user's desktop?
The account name WILL NOT show up under Documents and Settings until the account is "activated" by going to the user account desktop.

If you name an account one thing, and then rename it - the old name will stay as the account name in explorer. For example, if you (or someone else) had renamed the Owner account to "Ed" - then you'd have to look in the Owner account to see the documents

You're welcome. Glad it worked for you.
Sometimes it's the simple things that work-to often we focus on more
complicated solutions and forget about the basics.
And what I suggested is very basic.

Ok new problem, Why does my USER NAME on the welcome screen say I have E-MAIL messages when I don't have any?

Sorry it's probably another easy one, but I can't figure it out.

Thanks!

I believe (I'm not sure) that screen monitors the unread email messages in your email account.

If you are like me, you don't necessarily read them the same day they are downloaded.

You might be able to turn this off by using the "Tweak UI" utility from Microsoft:

(Just uncheck/clear the "Show unread mail on Welcome screen" box.)

You can download Tweak UI (free) from Microsoft at the following link -- scroll down the right-hand side to find the download link for Tweak UI:

My thoughts exactly, I have had the same problem and this method works well.
