Hi all,

I guess there is a virus going around. I have been trying to three days to get rid of the antispyware/trojan.fakealert program on my computer. I have downloaded so many different cleaning programs it makes me feel like I made it worse. My computer is also moving slow. I followed the direction on the BC log in where it says to download the Ad-aware then Spybot, so on and so on. So far nothing is working.

What should I do?

thanks,

Nicole

Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer. Is this an XP computer?
If So Please run 2 more tools

Downloand, install and save these to your desktop... SmitFraudFix by S!Ri and SUPERAntispyware Do Not run yet. You may want to print the SmitFraud Fix instructions for Steps 1 & 2.

Reboot into Safe Mode ..How to start Windows in Safe Mode

Open SmitfraudFix from the desktop and perform steps 1 & 2. you may have to reboot,if so go back to safe mode.

Now click the SUPERAntispyware Icon ,Perform a Complete scan of the C drive. Quarantine all items found.

NOW post back the scan results
To retrieve the removal information after reboot, launch SUPERAntispyware again.
Click Preferences, then click the Statistics/Logs tab.
Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.
If there are several logs, click the current dated log and press View log.
A text file will open in your default text editor.
Click Close to exit the program.

The SmitfraudFix report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt
