Hey friends!

Just hoping for some useful help in removing a detected trojan horse without rebooting my hardrives.

AVAST has detected the win32:obfuscated.EER, svchost.exe and deflib in the c:\windows\sysem32 folder.
Cant remove to chest or delete with Avast.
I also cant remove CA security suite & CA personal firewall (previously installed and expired).
Currently runing Windows SP2, Avast!, Kerio Winroute Firewall.

As per the suggestion, I've scanned all drives using cleanmgr to remove temp files, temporary internet files and recycle bin files. Also downloaded Adaware SE (& run that scan), Spybot & McAfee stinger.
Only visible problem with the operating system is it frequently shuts the whole computer down, and sometimes tries to reboot it. As a result, I havent been able to finish a complete scan with Spybot or McAfee. (basically Im not sure if its the trojan horse doing its thing in the operating system, or the actual power supply for the PC).

Here's the HijackThis Log.

So, what are my options here? Am I screwed?
Will my life be easier if I just reboot and reformat and reinstall everything?

Please help if you have any useful suggestions, advice or handy tips etc etc.
(Please also consider that I have only a basic understanding of my machine).

Thanks!
JH.

Hi, just wondering if someone can help me clean the trojan horse off my computer without the tedious exercise of rebooting & reinstalling everything!
Avast has detected the win32: obsfucated.eer trojan horse, although it wont let me remove it.
I also cannot remove the previous anti-virus / firewall program (CA security suite) from my comp.
My computer has been frequently shutting itself down recently, and I initially suspected it was a faulty power supply, but now I'm thinking it's a result of the trojan horse.
I've run multiple scans with Avast, Adaware, Spybot and Stinger as recommended. But nothing seems to have worked.

Thanks for your help & advice!

Justin.

I apologize for the very long delay. We have a huge backlog of HijackThis Logs to handle and it has been taking us greater time than normal to get caught up. If you are still having a problem, and want us to analyze your information, please post a brand new hijackthis log. If we do not hear back from you within a couple of days we will need to close your topic.

When posting your logs please post them directly into the reply. Do not attach them.

Also make sure you have already followed the steps outlined below:

Preparation Guide For Use Before Posting A Hijackthis Log

Thank you for your patience.
