OK .. I wonder if anyone can help. I have a Lynxsys router and am connected to Vigin Media for Broadband. My partners PC is hardwired to the router and since moving my PC to the lounge I now work wirelessly. All was connected fine and all are XP Pro OS. At Christmas we purchased my daughter a PC again XP Pro OS and connected the system up in her room wirelessly. At the time I thought it odd that when I connected to the network it did not ask for my permission but shrugged it off!

Anyway I have zone alarm installed and noticed that I was getting alot of things coming through, booting my MSN at one point when she logged in and all sorts of minor issues. We then twigged that the Zone alarm issues are my daughter connecting to the net!! It seems she is piggybacking my connection .. getting to the internet to my machine. Anyone have any ideas where we have gone wrong??

I'm lost. What didn't ask for permission? When I connect to my network, wired or not, nothing asks me permission, and I don't expect it to. I am also la little unclear as to which system you mean... your daughters, or yours?

Logged in on her system, or yours? Something here does not make sense either. Her doing something on her computer is not going to do anything on your computer, unless you have her computer connecting through your system instead of the router. The only way that is going to work is you have your computer set up for connection sharing. And even then, the signal should only pass through your system. You would still have to have everything on your system set up as a share, otherwise the built-in security policies prevent one system from controlling another.

If you open the router configuration with all three systems turned on, it should show (somewhere) which systems are being handled by the router. Do you have your wireless network secured?
