I opened the wrong file....
Ad-aware finds 400 or so critical objects and they always return
i think istsvc.exe is one on the main culprits as ad-aware cannot remove it and every time i end the process it returns
i appear to be running 7 or 8 Iexplorers at one time also??
please help - is there anything else i should be doing?

Thanks - Dave

Hi Dave12434

Welcome to BC

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Download Spybot 1.3 from this site Spybot 1.3. Install the program, update the definitions file. Do not run it yet

Download CleanUp! (Alternate Link if main link don't work) and install it.
Do not run them yet

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next, please double click on the My Computer icon on the desktop. Go to Tools | Folder Options, click on the View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is checked. Also uncheck Hide protected operating system files. Now click Apply to all folders, then click Apply then OK.

[/b]Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist:

P2P Networking
ISTsvc

Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Make sure to close any open browsers. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click Kill process for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be - but double check it):

SAHAGE~1.EXE
rcp6mon.exe
robsevt.exe
ebtrrsdv.exe
istsvc.exe
P2P Networking.exe

Run hijack this put a check next to these close all browsers and hit fix
Make sure not to miss one don't worry if they are not there
