Every time I try to open my email program, I get the "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down" message. If I click on the details button, I get this:

MSIMN caused an exception c0000006H in module DIRECTDB.DLL at 0167:018e5556.

This just started happening about a week ago. Any help would be appreciated.

Nope, didn't help. None of the error messages they list match the one I'm getting. Just to make sure, I checked all of my .dbx files like it said, and not one of them was set wrong. None were checkmarked "read only". I have no clue what is wrong.

That didn't work either. There were no messages.ods files found. I tried to run that Regedt 32 like it said, and it gives me an error message saying it cannot find the file.

It created a new .dbx file like it said, but it didn't make any difference. I still get the same message when I try to start my emails.

To answer on behalf of slay77, the e-mail program is in the title! His/her profile shows (not that I check every poster's profile, trust me!), Version of Windows is 98 and Anti-virus AVG.

As for the update, that's another story...
