Hi all

First time here - so please be gentle

MY AVG AV programe, Lavasoft Adaware and Spybot are all indicating that I have a Trojan resident in my machine. Sure enough - NTOS.EXE is in c:/Windows/System folder.

I have run HJT and it shows up as an F2 and 04 item - as others in this forum have also found. Reading through past posts, I found one which said (advice given by DAEMON) to remove these 2 items via HJT, then delete the file NTOS.EXE while in Windows Safe mode and then after rebooting back into normal mode to clean out System Restore.

However , when I tried to delete the file in Safe mode, it would not allow it and said that the file was in use. I have searched on this and found that others have had this problem also.

So back to square one - and I ask any here who may be able to assist to look at the HJT log below

Never mind - have managed to fix it myself

For the assistance of others in the future - my AVG antivirus was showing a "reading error" for file NTOS.EXE. AD-AWARE was indicating Win32.Backdoor.Agent and Win32.Trojanspy.peed and Spybot wa sindicating Win32.agent.PZ

Using SDFix as per the instructions in this post http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ind...amp;hl=ntos.exe has cured all my problems

Here is the important part of the SDFix report

------------------------------------
Trojan Files Found:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntos.exe - Deleted
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wsnpoem\audio.dll - Deleted
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wsnpoem\video.dll - Deleted
-------------------------------------

HJT now finds no mention of NTOS.EXE

Barry
