I bought a Intuos3 tablet which required that my old wacom driver be uninstalled first. It was a real problem getting the old driver off my machine for some reason, and I finally took my PC to a specialist for help. He tried everything as advised on the Wacom forums to no avail. Finally a download called 'Wacom Uninstall' was the only thing which took the old driver off my machine.

Since then Windows XP does not work as it should. Things like IE keep freezing and just hang there, then I had problems with Outlook Express and could not get an Internet connection for a while. WMP also no longer plays sound although I checked the settings in Audio properties and all looks normal there.

I have also done a few system restores to see if I could get back to before i had a problem, but although the system restore was 'successful', the problems I inherited after the driver removal have remained, so I really don't understand whats going on here.

Uninstalling/reinstalling Windows has been suggested, but I really don't want to do this to do this as I will loose too much I cant replace.

I am hoping there may be something else I can to to mend my Windows (which was after all working just fine until I had to remove the wacom driver.

Any ideas please?

I just tried uninstalling and then reinstalling AVG anti virus because of reading a suggestion of this on another thread. Wacom instructions had said to disable the anti virus so I'm thinking perhaps there might have been a conflict somehow. Just a thought.

Although the IE browser and other Windows programs are now a bit erratic, they are still up and running and so my biggest problem at the moment seems to be that my PC cannot play any sound. Have checked the settings and all seems normal to me. cant understand why the sound should have been affected though.

Any ideas?
