For the past few weeks I haven't been able to logon to my computer because the welcome screen doesn't appear anymore. It boots up as usual then I get this message about Windows not starting up properly because it never finishes loading. After I choose one of the several options it starts up, but instead I get a blank screen with only the mouse visible. Even if I boot it up in safe mode, last good configurations, or etc it still won't show the welcome screen. I'm just stuck at the booting process which I don't know what to do with anymore. The last thing I did before this happened was that I was messing around with "msconfig" after watching this video about freeing up resources by using that. I guess I should've watched it a little more carefully. I must've turned off something in the StartUp tab that I shouldn't have that may have caused this problem. I'm using a Gateway Windows XP Media Center Edition btw so maybe I wasn't suppose to do that at all, but I don't know since I'm not too smart about computers. I've asked help from the guy who made that video and he's done his best to help and I'm left with either repairing my computer with the Windows cd, or sending it in to someone who can fix it for me.
Before I do that I'd like to get help from another person once again and see what's wrong. If anyone would help me out here I'd really appreciate it. Another thing I did as well before this happened was that I was defragging my computer BUT I don't think that was the problem because I had restarted my computer after that was done, and my pc booted up fine. After that I ran the msconfig and that's where everything went wrong I suppose. Any help would be great! I hope I don't have to risk losing everything on my computer because that is the last thing I'd ever want to do!
