No matter what I do, I cannot open any .exe files or programs.

Windows XP SP2 with all Microsoft Security UPdates installed

So far I have done the following:

1. Ran Trend Micro Online Scanner successfully

2. Ran Bit defender Online Scanner successfully.

3. Ran Kaspersky Online scanner but not successfull. It downloaded executable file but cannot run the program

4. Cannot execute any antivirus programs

5. Cannot open any programs except word and internet explorer

6. Cannot Combofix or hijackthis programs

Key problem: Cannot run any exe program files and keep getting rundll32.exe erros when in Control Panel.

Please help

Hello ,try to run these Online scans they should open. This will help us determine if it is malware related. Then maybe you'll be able to run other tools. Let us know.

ESET's Online Scanner

Panda ActiveScan?

Please download Deckard's Association File Tool (DAFT) and save it to your desktop.
  • Rename daft.exe to daft.com and double click on it to run.
  • Read the disclaimer and click OK.
  • Click on the Scan button.
  • If it finds faulty file associations, they will appear in red beside a checkbox. If this occurs, just place a checkmark (tick) in the boxes in question.
  • Click the Fix button.

If it does not work, change the extension to something else such as .bat, .pif, or .scr. Example: daft.bat or daft.scr

Are there any more issues? Have you performed scans with your anti-virus and are you finding any malware?
