For sometime I have been trying to make sure I understand each and every process running. Sad but true. I am nowhere near but I do understand the ones I generally have running today except this one. Entering the name into various process dictionaries online I am getting conflicting information.

On processlibrary.com this is a real problem and a huge threat. Imediately set about find a tool or application that would remove it. AVG doesnt see it as a problem and niether does McAfee. Couldnt find a specific tool that made a difference and I would appreciate any feedbackl concerning this process and whats its up too.

Thanks for any feedback in advance. I have looked all over the net and I am still as confused, or maybe even more confused than when I started.

wininit.exe is a valid process - and it's a virus. It all depends on what it's doing to your system (and where it's located). The problem here is that the virus writers want to invade your system and hide their work from you. So they'll either corrupt your wininit.exe and use it for their purposes, or they'll make another wininit.exe and will put it someplace else and make it do it's stuff from there.

Thanks for responding. I am getting so paranoid these days lol.
It seems if I want a PC and want to use it for online games I cant be 100% safe if I want to play and I have been hit a couple of times in the last few months with stuff even though I have been quite careful.

Thanks for the help and the knowledge I have got from some of your other responses on this site. Dont know what us non IT types would do without people like some of the good chaps on this forum.

Many thanks.
