I've been looking at new LCD monitors lately, and I've been wondering how crucial contrast ratio is to the whole big picture...

Anybody care to explain if there's a certain minimum level to avoid?

Apparently, it's the difference in contrast between the darkest black and brightest white. I don't think it matters a lot to be honest, and long as it's reasonable. I meant, it is nice to have a decent black when playing games =].
