My friend was deleting some files on her PC and now she can't find either the soundcard or DVD drive, the sound card just comes up saying it is Multimedia Audio Controler and that the drivers are not installed but it will not let me find the drivers. Also the PC will not see the DVD drive it just says says "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)" I've tried trouble shooting but to no avail. The DVD is COMBOIDE5216CO. but we don't know what the soundcard make or model is.

Thanx

Welcome to BC
If we know the make and model of the computer, we can hook you up to the driver. The DVD should be plug n play. Simply remove it in Device Manager and reboot. Windows should redetect it

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around

Not sure of the make and model, seems it was a custom built PC, will try the DVD solution tho

If the pc was custom built then your friend should have the driver disc for the motherboard, put that in and install the drivers.

Tried deleting the driver and restarting, the computer detected the cd-rom and installed the driver but refused to show me the drive and gave the same error messages as before.

For the DVD drive, it's a registry edit BACK UP first

Since you don't know the make of your computer you can download S.I.W. It will tell you what you have

Try system restore, not guaranteed but it's worth a try if you don't have the drivers cd
