Everytime I boot up, the touchpad works fine but only for a few minutes. A box comes up saying: "Your TouchPad has been disabled because the Synaptics TouchPad driver has detected another pointing device plugged into your computer." My laptop thinks that it has a mouse plugged into the PS/2 port (it doesn't), and so although all the functionality of the touchpad is still represented on the control panel all the good stuff (scrolling, corner tapping etc) has stopped. THIS HAS BEEN DRIVING ME INSANE!

Is there anything else plugged into the laptop? Have the correct drivers been installed for it? What does it say about the device that's plugged in in Device Manager (Start...Run...type in "devmgmt.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter)? What make and model laptop do you have?
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
