Removable Drives Show Up Even When There Is Nothing There

my computer has four usb ports and they all show up as removable drives on the explore(normal) but they are there even when I have no usbs on it.. I would like for them not to show up there when I do not have usbs connected to it, how do I do that??

What happens if you insert a non-flash drive USB device?
