My Compaq Presario 4403US has a monitor problem, I have plugged the monitor into another computer so I know that it is not the monitor.

It goes into standby then it wil either not come out and I have to restart, or it will come out showing a screen full of horizontal and multi colored lines, after manually restarting its OK until it goes into standby again, then the same problem reoccurs.

I would appreciate it if you could give me an idea of what the problem is ?

Have you re-installed the video driver. If you have a video card, remove it and clean the contacts.
I see you have a lot of posts, so I'm guessing you've already tried these obvious things. Did you ever fix it?
